12th International Student Association held in Malaysia

This year’s 12th International Students’ Gathering, organized by UDEF under the auspices of Presidency of Republic of Turkey, which is being held in 91 cities of 51 countries, completed its events in Malaysia.


The event of Malaysia marked a high esteemed presence of Turkish Ambassador for Malaysia H.E. Dr. Merve Safa Kavakci, AK Parti Istanbul MP Rumeysa Kadak, UDEF Vice-President Orhan Pekcetin, President of Isparta International Student Association Ali Aslan, UDEF Student Affairs Unit Co-ordinator Zakaria Gamshadzehi Far, Malaysia Culture Tourism Advisor Begum Soysal, Maarif Foundation Asia-Pacific Regional Coordinator Harun Kucukaladagli, Director of Yunus Emre Institute Dr. Omer Altun, Maarif Foundation Trustee Board Member Zekeriya Akcam, Nama Foundation Chairman Dr. Saleh Mubarak Baza, IESCO Chairman Dr. Abu Yahya Shafa, IIUM Rector Dzulkifli Abdul Razak, NGO representatives and international students.


Following the recitation from the Noble Quran, UDEF Vice President, Orhan Pekcetin in his inaugural speech said, “The number of international students have been noticed to be on surge since 2004. International students who travel to Turkey from far off their homes, we try our level best not leaving them alone being by their side in all situations. As UDEF, we strive to bridge hearts with the motive of Ansar-Muhajir Brotherhood. We support international students with counselling, guidance, stipend and accommodation, meanwhile, reminding them of their vital role in the establishment of a world full of peace.”


Briefing about the education in Turkey, he further added, “Turkish possesses very favorable conditions for university education. We, as UDEF, put our efforts in order to provide our utmost help to the international students regardless of their origin. With 64 different student organizations all over Turkey, we are always by their side.”


Rector Dzulfikli mentioned that IIUM not just addresses Muslim and Malaysian students but the entire humankind and also briefed of the main objective of the university to leave a cultural heritage to the students.


Ambassador Kavakci talking about the disasters that the global system has brought to mankind said, “So far I witnessed just to world leaders who stood up against this unjust system. Firstly, President of Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Muhammed.”


Further addressing the students, Ambassador Kacakci added that the gallantry that Turks showed on the night of coup of 15 July left an exclusive model in the world.


The event ended with souvenir presentations.


With the slogan of “For a Just World, From East to West”, we are bringing international students together in 91 cities of 51different countries.
