12th International Students’ Gathering Makes the Justice Call in Uganda.
The International Students’ Gathering, which goes across the continents, was recently held in Uganda.
This year’s, 12th International Students’ Gathering of UDEF completes its Uganda phase. Deputy Ambassador of Turkish Embassy Uganda H.E. Erman Birdal, Vice Coordinator of TIKA Onur Yasar, President of Mihmandar International Student Association Mehmet Everan, Executive Board Member and Educational Unit In-charge of Asma Kopru International Student Association Harun Unal, Vice President of Inci Humanitarian Help Foundation Yusuf Mugoya and a number of Turkish Alumni in Uganda and international students attended the program.
After the Quran recitation, on behalf of UDEF, Harun Unal from Asma Kopru International Student Association while mentioning about UDEF and its activities, further said, “This year we came up with the slogan of For a Just World, From East to West. We shall be organizing these gatherings of international students in 91 cities of 51 different countries all over the world. And here we witness the blend of dozens of voices and cultures.
”Deputy Ambassador H.E. Erman Birdal, in his speech said, “I personally follow UDEF affiliated organizations and their activities and I would like to thank UDEF for these activities.
”Later in the event, Mehmet Evran, President of Mihmandar International Student Association presented his views and said, “the journey that began in 2004 with SADER has now reached to a federation (UDEF) of 64 different student organizations throughout Turkey, and the spread of its activities, to various countries all over the world such as Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Ecuador, etc. signifies its importance. The spread of these activities are great steps for establishing awareness among the Ummah. He even mentioned of importance of international students for establishing A Just World, From East to West.”
The event comprised of question and answer session regarding Turkish Scholarship, UDEF and its affliate student organisations, activities related to international students, relations with Turkish Alumni and other similar queries from the participants.
Local dance and musical performances added a more vibrant frame to the program. At the end of the program, participants were served with the local dishes of Uganda.
