12th International Students’ Gathering held in Sanliurfa
This year’s 12th International Students’ Gathering, organized by UDEF under the auspices of Presidency of Republic of Turkey, which is being held in 91 cities of 51 countries, completed its events in the city of Sanliurfa.
The event of Sanliurfa grabbed great attention of public. Head of Sanliurfa Metropolitan Transportation Department Mehmet Can Hallac, Deputy-Mayor of Karakopru Municipality Osman Uludag, Chairman of Peygamber Seydalilari Platform Emin Gunes, Chairman of Ruha Der Salij Samak, Chairman of Yedibasak Association Vedat Savas, Chairman of Colyak Association Hasan Dogan, Chairman of Gunyuzu Association Mahmut Cartuk, several NGO representatives and international students attended the event.
The program that began with recitation from the Noble Quran followed speeches from delegates. UDEF Eastern & South-Eastern Coordinator, Mehmet Fatih Gok said, ““UDEF is growing every day. Number of our associations are increasing. The 12th edition of our students’ gathering this year is being held in 91 cities of 51 different countries. There are more than 150 thousands international students in Turkey. We hold them by the virtue of our cultures and values. Our belief is to organize and bring together, the students who are on a journey to achieve knowledge. We do not address them as foreigners but as our guests.
President of Harran International Student Association, Muhammed Ali Aytis said, “For years we have been striving to provide guiding and counselling services to international students in Sanliurfa and we shall continue them without any fatigueness.”
After the speeches, which emphasized how international students can play a vital role in the establishment of a more just world, the attending delegates visited the stands of international students.
Traditional dance, local musical performances, traditional food and other stage performances, international students presented a cultural fest to the people of Sanliurfa.
