12th International Students’ Gathering held in Sivas

This year’s 12th International Students’ Gathering, organized by UDEF under the auspices of Presidency of Republic of Turkey, which is being held in 91 cities of 51 countries, completed its events in Sivas under the coordination of Sultansehir International Student Association.


12th International Students’ Gathering, which is being held in 91 cities of 51 different countries with the slogan of “For a Just World, From East to West”, concluded its Sivas events. The event comprised of country stands from international students and was attended by Governor of Sivas Salih Ayhan, Deputy Mayor of Sivas Turan Topgul, Rector of Cumhuriyet University Prof. Dr. Alim Yildiz, Rector of Science and Technology University Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kul, Deputy Governor of Sivas & Sivas Regional Family and Social Policies Director Harun Tan, Sivas Environment and Urban Planning Director Nazim Yakut, Sivas Youth & Sports Director Erdogan Tunc, Sivas Culture and Tourism Director V. Teoman Karaca, Sivas Educational Board Director Ebubekir Siddik Savasci, Sivas Agriculture and Forest Director Syeit Yildiz, Kadem Sivas Regional In-charge Semra Temurbas Mayibulut, Chairman of IHH Sivas Ahmet Cakmak, National Education Board Regional Director Fehmi Tutkun, YTB Coordinator for Cumhuriyet University Ahmet Turan, a number of international students and local public.


Cultural Festival 


The two days program comprised of traditional dance and musical performances presented a cultural festival to the people of Sivas. International students exhibited there cultures through traditional dresses, belongings and foods.


Volunteer Cultural Ambassadors


Delivering the inaugural speech, President of Sultan Sehir International Student Association, Mehmet Fatih Yildiz said, ““We can see it well that today’s new world order has stripped apart people from their cultural riches. We strive to avail these ambitious youths such that they feel Turkey as their second home. Sivas hosts 1560 international students from 103 different countries. Around 500 of these students are scholarship holders and the rest are pursuing their studies on their own resources.


Nur Atici, who was attending the program on behalf of UDEF said, “It is our main goal to have the students to own consciousness of universal brotherhood, to know the modern world order, to have high organizational capability, to be aware of the situation and requirements of their countries, to know the glorious of Islamic culture and history and to return to their countries as volunteer ambassadors of civilization. International Students are our “Guests” rather a foreigner.”
