International Students in Isparta calls for Justice
This year’s, 12th International Students’ Gathering of UDEF completes its Isparta phase.
With the slogan of “For a Just World, From East to West”, international students from countries such as Afghanistan, Ghana, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Palestine, Somalia and others came together for the cultural event at 19 May Square within the premises of Suleyman Demirel University. The international students through their presentation stands presented their countries to the people of Isparta.
The International Student Association of Isparta affiliated to UDEF managed and organized the event. President of the International Federation of Student Associations (UDEF) Dr. Mehmet Ali Bolat, President of Isparta International Student Association Ali Aslan, Vice Rector of Suleyman Demirel University Prof. Dr. Nihat Ayyıldız, Vice Rector of Isparta University of Applied Sciences Dr. Isa Telci and many representatives of NGOs along with remarkable participation of local public observed the event.
Hundreds of students from different cultures hosted the people of Isparta in their stands with traditional delicacies and answered the queries regarding their countries. The stands experienced great interest of local people in order to be acquainted to different cultures.
UDEF President Dr. Bolat in his speech noted, “In general, there are some 115 thousand international students from 203 countries and out which around 2500 are in Isparta only. Every year we hold these gatherings within the months of April and May where all the countries are introduced and promoted, our fellow international students present us their cultures, social life, their traditional foods, local sports and further find themselves included in our rich Turkish culture as well.”
